while i was off for my mini-vacation last/this week, we went to brazos bend park where the american alligator is in full effect. we only saw a few, but other bikers told us that they had seen close to 40 some. next time we'll need to be out by the wetlands areas a little earlier but given what it takes to get out the door sometimes, i'm shocked we got there when we did. the point is that we managed to drag our little gator bait behind the bikes and have a generally awesome time. the bummer in this is that it makes riding around the neighborhood less than exciting. we'll have to take our adventure when and where we can get it, i guess.
we follow some backpacking blogs and there is a family in the panhandle of tx that had three kids (one of whom is just about the dude's age). they go on trips to places that we dig and we like to follow them so that we can pick up some pointers. well, the patriarch of this group makes a dad and kids only trip when a new kid turns one. he did it with his two boys and felt like superman. well, his baby girl just turned one and he decided to take all of the kids out with him. the catch? they adopted two pre-school aged girls in the interim. they now have FIVE CHILDREN in the one to five age range. and he took them camping. alone. he packed all of the gear and carried the baby in a carrier on his chest. this guy? hard. fucking. core. i'm impressed when i can make breakfast with the dude zipping around my feet. to backpack with him...and FOUR OTHER PRE-SCHOOLERS for a weekend? fuck that. i'm not nearly hardcore enough. this guy is my new personal hero. and yeah, he makes us feel like wusses.
this is not the point, however. the point is, we're planning an adventure trip out. lots of options on the table right now. i'll just be excited to do some car camping as the weather cools. i miss being out and about and i know that stacky is jonesin' for a trip. and the dude digs it. he doesn't have a choice, so he might as well, right?
did some recording last night that didn't suck. the mix is all wrong, but that's what lunch time is for. let's see, the temperature drops 5 or so degrees and my productivity picks up. i know that correlation is not causation, but fuck that. when it's hot, i can't get anything done. you can dig the crap mix at the usual spot.
also of note: lego indiana jones is pretty sweet. more puzzle driven than the star wars "blow everything up and use the force non-stop" games. it's a lot of fun. and at the end of the month, lego batman. does it get better than this? i would posit that it does not.
google has a new browser. just what i needed. or not. oh, what's that? no mac version? irrelevant.
we have plans for saturday that involve watching cute little children play together. i'm sure that it will be highly amusing. i'm planning to synergize in the studio a bit more and maybe become less shitty with my dobro. don't count on that last bit, but there's always hope! i should probably restring my 12-string...but that's like...a LOT of work and stuff. i SHOULD review it though. i've had it for almost a year now and it's amazing. damn canukistanis making better inexpensive guitars than the japanese...what is the world coming to? it really is a fantastic instrument. when i get a minute, right?
